Accents

The mark carries one accent at a time. Sage is the default. Try the others:

Brand & Trademark

The code is free. The name is not a free-for-all, and that is on purpose. When you see "OpenDesign", you should be able to trust exactly what it means: this project, stewarded by MAECLY, and not a look-alike. The trademark is how that trust is kept. This page summarizes the repository's TRADEMARK policy in plain language.

Symbol

The symbol is the OpenDesign mark on its own.

  • Give it room. Keep clear space around the mark so nothing crowds it.
  • Do not recolor it, distort its proportions, or redraw it.
  • Use the official artwork; do not approximate it.

Lockup

The lockup is the symbol paired with the "OpenDesign" wordmark.

  • Keep the casing exactly as it is: a lowercase "open" joined to "design", presented as one word: "OpenDesign".
  • Do not rearrange the symbol and wordmark, re-typeset the name in a different font, or restyle the pairing.
  • Treat the lockup as a single unit.

Usage: what you can do

You do not need permission to talk about OpenDesign truthfully. You may:

  • Say that you use OpenDesign, or that your project is built on or compatible with OpenDesign.
  • Make factual references to the project in articles, talks, tutorials, and documentation.
  • Use unmodified screenshots of the app for review, commentary, or teaching.

The rule of thumb: nominative, factual use is fine.

What's not allowed

To keep the name meaningful, some uses are off limits:

  • Don't name your product "OpenDesign", or any confusable variant, for a competing or derivative tool.
  • Don't use the logo as your product's icon, or as if it were your own mark.
  • Don't imply endorsement, affiliation, or partnership that does not exist.
  • Don't use the marks commercially without permission.
  • Forks must rename and re-logo. If you distribute a fork, ship it under your own name and your own mark. The GPL gives you the code, not the brand.

Permission

Want to do something the policy does not cover, or use the marks in a way that needs sign-off? Just ask. Email contact@maecly.com and describe what you have in mind.

This is a plain-English summary, not legal advice; the LICENSE, CLA and TRADEMARK files in the repository are the authoritative terms.
